Welcome
The Kindling Kind is a sturdy, flexible structure where many offerings flow through ~ namely courses, coaching, and circles. It’s a sacred channel for the divine, held and built with so much humanity.
Serving
~ Those who seek alignment, unity, and joy.
~ Folks who feel stuck—creatively, emotionally, sexually, in relationships, in binaries, etc.—while they recover their agency, curiosity, and free-flowing joy.
~ Queer and Trans folks as they remember and step more fully into their magic and divinity!
~ Parents and caregivers who are raising their kids in an open, curious, engaged way, especially around topics like sexuality, consent, communication, and gender.
Foundation
My practice, coaching, and courses are founded in uplifting, accepting, and affirming because I truly believe you are already capable, complete, magnificent, and wise!
This sacred image ~ the Constellation of Service ~ came to me while I was meditating on the roots of The Kindling Kind.
Who does The Kindling Kind serve?
The Kindling Kind was initially born out of a desire to serve Queer and Trans folks as well as families, parents, and children. This calling springs forth from my longing to see stronger, more flexible family and community structures made up of radiant, sovereign beings.
As I have worked, the folks I serve has evolved and shifted, expanded to the point where I no longer feel called to categorize. Yet this desire is still foundational to all the work I do. It is my belief that when we as individuals are in greater alignment and flow within ourselves, our entire ecosystem benefits. The joy and peace that comes from that alignment creates a ripple effect that knows no bounds.
I work with committed, hopeful, creative folks who want to live in integrity. I often work with those who are trying to do their best, and feel overwhelmed or stuck in some part of their life. Those who want to reconnect with themselves, their Spirituality, their rootedness, their families, and their community in ways that feel authentic and aligned.
Niche? I don’t know her.
While having a niche may excite some, it doesn’t feel aligned with the flexible, fluid, shapeshifting nature of this space or my practice. It is my desire that this work speaks to those it is meant for. That those it speaks to know who they are and they feel empowered to engage further enthusiastically. That’s it, it’s really that simple.
Of course, there are topics that really light me up, but overall it’s the process. It’s the act of holding transformative space, engaging deeply, connecting on cosmic levels in order to shift, transmute, and tap into our inherent wisdom. That’s what feels like practicing purpose to me! That’s my path and my calling.
Humanity. Divinity. Mysteries. Ancestors. Spelunking. Bringing joy and exuberance to the depths of the caverns. Sparking solar power and deep flow. Galvanizing and experimenting, exploring and recovering our creativity, unity, brilliance, wonder, and oneness. Remembering our right relationships to the Universe and thus our resiliency! That’s the niche for me. That’s my specialty.
The Kindling Kind is…
~ Ever evolving.
~ Rooted in humility, love, joy, curiosity, and celebration.
~ A place for kindred spirits to find support, to spark and ignite freely!
~ Built with prayer and magic.
~ Centered in consent.
~ A marvelous portal of possibility.
~ A place to be held and honored in all our glory!
~ A place to explore, play, experiment, and share.
~ An open, embracing space where our whole selves are welcome.
~ An invitation to dive into the depths, to spelunk and explore in a safer space.
This sacred symbol (aka logo) was made on a beautiful summer day in a park while talking to a dear friend. It sprung forth so quickly! It’s the Moon, the Sun, a rainbow, an eye, rays of light! It’s also the elements coming together, a horizon, a landscape, a seed, a birth, a stained glass window, a compass, spokes on a wheel, building blocks, star gazing, a cape, and a bird’s eye view. This symbol references alchemy, family, community, change, multiplicity, wonder, childhood, nature, the elements, opening, embracing, dawning, bursting open, and cycles. I love how it can be cosmic, black and white, rainbow, or coloring book style.
Who’s behind The Kindling Kind?
Hello, it’s me, MaryAnn George, and I am behind The Kindling Kind! If you’d like to learn more about me, you can do so here.
The Kindling Kind is my soul child, my offering to the world, a place for me to play and teach, to share as I learn and grow. It’s a sacred space designed to ebb and flow, built with so much love, joy, curiosity, humility, integrity, and celebration.
The name “Kindling Kind” was lovingly gifted to me by Virginia Piazza during a really incredible brainstorming session we had for another project. The logo was born out of an ongoing conversation about logos as sacred symbols and marks with Kathy Bresler, the founder of Altar Community.
I feel so blessed to have had many, many teachers who have influenced and guided my work. I am currently compiling a list of teachers and practitioners, an ongoing bibliography of sorts, to share. Stay tuned, this list is coming soon.
About the Images
All original photos on this site were taken by the brilliant Quinn Hines. Quinn is a New York based artist, photographer, and dancer. If you are looking for a photographer, I cannot recommend him enough. He made all my rainbow photo dreams come true with such ease and delight. Quinn is truly a joy to work with!
The other images were made by me, MaryAnn. As an artist and a highly visual being, making images is a calling and an honor. While making images, no matter the medium, I feel invited to channel and birth the energy of the image into the world. It may sound wild or far-fetched, but for me, it’s an act of devotion and meditation.
Rainbows on Rainbows
Ever since I was a child I have loved rainbows. I love how they encompass every color. I love how they bow, bend, and curve. Rainbows are a natural fit when it comes to The Kindling Kind ~ they bridge, they flow, they symbolize hope, unity, joy, and magic.
Here are some rainbow associations I have: What Lindsay Mack said about rainbows on the Ten of Cups tarot card, how we stop to look, we don’t wait or put off looking at a rainbow, we run out, we stop, we pull over, we make time and space for the joy of a rainbow, how rainbows bring us together in a shared experience ~ drawing them since I was a kid, almost obsessively ~ every color in the universe ~ spectrum ~ history of Pride Flag ~ the colors of ourselves and our planet ~ rainbow bridge ~ rainbow canopy ~ wrapped in a rainbow ~ rainbow blanket ~ rainbow hawk ~ rainbows on rainbows! ~ rainbow circle ~ Hilma af Klint ~ Rainbows are delightful, magical moments ~ God promising in the bible not to flood the world again ~ Sign of peace and prosperity ~ Sign of unity and inclusion ~ So many rainbows in Iceland, especially in Seyðisfjörður when driving into the fjord
This collage was inspired by a vision I had while guiding someone into a coaching session. It’s the astral view of us each planted securely in our own centers. We are united by a rainbow bridge and surrounded by our well bright Ancestors and Guiding Spirits. Protected in the Cosmos.
See what others have to say ~
“MaryAnn has a pendulum energy that is difficult to put into a paragraph. they are both a sparkly rainbow explosion and an endless ocean on a dark night. as deep, intuitive, restful n slow as they can be ecstatic and electrifying ~ a sacred spark with the power to light a thousand stars. MaryAnn is a person of many paths with a dedication to joy and radical deep luv. they live into their truth boldly and hold a torch for other's freedom with their very existence.” — lou
“MaryAnn is an insightful, compassionate truth teller and wise companion to those creating their own path as they walk it. They hold what’s true for me without judgment or fixing while challenging me to see potential pitfalls and possibilities outside my limited view. I consistently emerge from our conversations feeling reoriented, grounded and inspired.” — Kathy Bresler
“MaryAnn is a pioneer in what they do. It is through MaryAnn that I deepened my own coaching practice to be holistically inclusive in my space holding, in my language, in my energy and in my heart. MaryAnn has a commanding energy and indeed is a force, guided by their ancestors, spirit guides and other beings of ether. You know you are in the presence of a person who was sent to change the broken bits of our society when you work with MaryAnn.” — Chloe Adriana
